Pointless Guitar Picks Review

Since I started playing an electric guitar, I have struggled on occasion with my pick. Sometimes I would drop it and sometimes it would turn while practicing or playing. I would also have the occasional strumming problems. But in the last few years, these problems have increased.
Because of these problems, I developed a strong desire to find something better. So, after searching and trying a variety of picks I discovered Pointless Picks.

What are Pointless picks?

Pointless Picks are round acetal picks with a raised grip ring in the center. They were developed by designer Doug Larsen and are American made.

My experience with Pointless Picks

I decided on the .58 mm. I felt that this would probably work best for my playing style.
When I received my picks, I couldn’t wait to try one out. So, I quickly picked one up and tested it out. I tested the pick in a variety of ways. Initially, I performed a vibrato using the b string on the 12th fret, picked individual strings, and played a variety of chords and power chords. Later, I played a few songs that I learned.
After completely testing out the pick I discovered a few things. The first discovery related to pick turning. While playing I noticed that the pick didn’t turn. But, I think the round shape is responsible for this. The round shape prevents users from noticing if the pick turns. It also prevents them from having to adjust the pick while playing. The second discovery related to strumming. With this pick, strumming was much smoother and I never felt like the pick would get caught in the strings. The third discovery related to dropping the pick. Since using the picks I have never dropped one. This pick has stayed in place very well.
Overall, I liked using this style of pick. In the beginning(due to the pick being round) I had to make minor adjustments to my playing technique. But, it didn’t discourage me and it didn’t take much time to make these adjustments.

Availability

Pointless picks have been around a while. But, they are not available in any well-known places and they are not widely available. I felt that they should have at least been available on Amazon. But, many have never heard of these picks.
I made the decision to purchase them online. I purchased a package of six from www.clemmerdulcimer.com. I was hesitant because I have never heard of this place. But, I got what I wanted and it was delivered on time.
They are also available at www.pointlesspicks.com. They are offering a trial pack of nine picks.

My collection of Pointless Picks

Overall

If you are having trouble with standard picks, Pointless Picks are worth trying out. In my opinion, they deserve to be well known and available at many more places. Since I received them, they have been the only picks I use.

Mega Plug AV 200 Mbps Powerline Ethernet Kit by Actiontec

A few years ago I established an internet connection on a second PC. Originally, I tried using wifi but I found it frustrating. I kept losing my signal and the speed was sluggish. I  later decided to establish a connection with an ethernet cable. I enjoyed the ease of setup(once my ethernet cable was fully routed) and the reliability of this type of connection. Overall, I was satisfied but I wanted to see if there were other alternatives. I wanted to do this for a few reasons. The first was that I didn’t want to deal with drilling any more holes in my floor if I ever decided to establish a third internet connection. The second was that I wanted to have an option if I ever felt that routing an ethernet cable would be a problem. So, I casually researched alternatives. After a period of time, I discovered the Mega Plug AV Powerline Ethernet Kit.

What is the Mega Plug AV Powerline Ethernet Kit?

The Mega Plug AV Powerline Ethernet kit(sometimes called a Homeplug) is a 200 Mbps device that uses your existing electrical wiring to establish an internet connection. Installation is quick and simple.  There is no drilling, and no long ethernet cables to run.

Inside the box

With the Mega Plug AV kit you get a 4-port switch, 200 Mbps powerline ethernet network adapter, quick start guide, two ethernet cables, and one power cord.

My experience

My experience has been pleasant one with this device. Once I opened the box it was just a matter of plugging in the ethernet network adapter near my router, connecting the ethernet cable from the adapter to my router, plugging in the four-port AV switch in the room that I had chosen, and connecting the ethernet cable from the four-port switch to my device.
I am currently using this kit to get my Xbox 360 online. I have been web browsing, downloading games, and using apps. So far I haven’t had any problems with it. The connection is as stable as an ethernet connection.
