A few years ago I established an internet connection on a second PC. Originally, I tried using wifi but I found it frustrating. I kept losing my signal and the speed was sluggish. I later decided to establish a connection with an ethernet cable. I enjoyed the ease of setup(once my ethernet cable was fully routed) and the reliability of this type of connection. Overall, I was satisfied but I wanted to see if there were other alternatives. I wanted to do this for a few reasons. The first was that I didn’t want to deal with drilling any more holes in my floor if I ever decided to establish a third internet connection. The second was that I wanted to have an option if I ever felt that routing an ethernet cable would be a problem. So, I casually researched alternatives. After a period of time, I discovered the Mega Plug AV Powerline Ethernet Kit.
What is the Mega Plug AV Powerline Ethernet Kit?
The Mega Plug AV Powerline Ethernet kit(sometimes called a Homeplug) is a 200 Mbps device that uses your existing electrical wiring to establish an internet connection. Installation is quick and simple. There is no drilling, and no long ethernet cables to run.
Inside the box
With the Mega Plug AV kit you get a 4-port switch, 200 Mbps powerline ethernet network adapter, quick start guide, two ethernet cables, and one power cord.
My experience
My experience has been pleasant one with this device. Once I opened the box it was just a matter of plugging in the ethernet network adapter near my router, connecting the ethernet cable from the adapter to my router, plugging in the four-port AV switch in the room that I had chosen, and connecting the ethernet cable from the four-port switch to my device.
I am currently using this kit to get my Xbox 360 online. I have been web browsing, downloading games, and using apps. So far I haven’t had any problems with it. The connection is as stable as an ethernet connection.
